A hard operational balance

Venues face a constant tension: music loud enough to create atmosphere, quiet enough to avoid fines. Current solutions force a choice between compliance and experience.

Power cut-off limiters kill the music mid-set, damage equipment, and frustrate performers. SPL monitors tell you when you've already exceeded the limit. Staff adjust levels based on guesswork, and turnover means retraining every few months.

The result: noise complaints, fines, license threats, and no data to diagnose what went wrong.

How AEGIS works

Monitor

Computer vision can estimate occupancy while calibrated microphones measure SPL across the frequency spectrum. Operators see what the system is measuring.

Analyze

The pilot correlates occupancy, ambient noise, time of day, and historical patterns to estimate when levels are approaching configured limits.

Adapt

AEGIS can integrate with Q-SYS, Powersoft, or OSC control paths. Any adjustment remains visible to the operator and depends on the validated installation profile.

Protect

Configurable hard limits and spectral processing aim to reduce the risk of overshoot without using an abrupt power cut. Hardware validation is still part of the pilot.

Report

Continuous logs and historical reports support operational review. They do not by themselves certify legal compliance or replace calibrated procedures.

In practice

Built for professional audio

A platform designed around existing professional audio infrastructure.

The edge node runs on a Mac Mini M2 with a Tauri desktop app. The Rust core handles audio capture, real-time analysis, protocol communication with Q-SYS and Powersoft hardware, and the decision engine loop.

A Python ML sidecar provides computer vision via YOLOv8 for people counting. The system can operate fully offline, with optional cloud sync through Supabase for multi-venue management.
