Open source, open trust.
We build in the open because transparency is not a strategy — it is a requirement. Our core products are free to use, learn from, and improve.
Why open source
Privacy software that you cannot inspect is not private. Security tools that hide their code are asking for trust they have not earned. Open source is the only honest way to build tools that handle sensitive data.
Beyond trust, open source means durability. If Formray disappeared tomorrow, every product would continue working. The code is yours, the data is yours, the infrastructure is yours. That is the point.
Licensing
Every project is open source, but each license fits its ecosystem. Privacy and compliance tools use AGPL-3.0. Consumer tools use MIT. Infrastructure tools use Apache-2.0 to match community standards.
Enterprise licenses are available for organizations that need different terms. But the open-source version is never crippled. The complete, production-ready product is always free. Four principles govern our approach:
| Project | License | Why |
|---|---|---|
| DARC | AGPL-3.0 | Privacy and compliance — community contributions flow back |
| AEGIS | AGPL-3.0 | Core software open — revenue from hardware, services, cloud monitoring |
| PRISM | MIT | Consumer tool — maximum adoption, zero friction |
| PRELUDE | Apache-2.0 | CNCF and Kubernetes ecosystem standard |
| TRACE | AGPL-3.0 | Privacy and compliance — community contributions flow back |
| FOLDRY | AGPL-3.0 | Family privacy requires zero-knowledge encryption — community contributions flow back |
| SafetySfy | Proprietary | Internal tool — proprietary, built for Skeldon workplace safety operations |
Core is complete
The open-source version is not a demo. It is the full product, production-ready, with every feature needed to run it in real environments.
Security always open
Security features are never behind a paywall. Encryption, access controls, audit logging — these belong in the core.
No feature migration
Features that ship as open source stay open source. We do not move free features to paid tiers.
Transparent roadmap
Our development plans are public. You can see what is coming, provide feedback, and understand the direction.
Projects
Everything we build. Open source, privacy-first, designed to last.

Contributing
We welcome contributions of all kinds — code, documentation, bug reports, feature requests, and feedback. Every contribution is reviewed carefully and given the attention it deserves.
Read the guidelines. Each repository includes a CONTRIBUTING.md with setup instructions and coding standards.
Start small. Good first issues are labeled in every repository. Pick one, submit a PR, and go from there.
Ask questions. Open an issue or start a discussion. There is no such thing as a bad question.
Community
Formray is built by and for a community that values privacy, transparency, and craft. We are small by design — quality over quantity, signal over noise.
Join us on GitHub to follow development, report issues, and contribute. Every interaction is treated with the same care we put into our code.
