About Formray

Formray is a creative technology studio working across AI, audio, software, and live production. We build purposeful products, test them in the field, and document their real state.

We work across disciplines — software, AI, audio, video, creative technology — because the best solutions come from understanding more than one field. Every product, every service, every line of code gets the same attention.

We take our time. We do not chase trends or hide unfinished work behind launch language. Privacy is a design constraint: local and air-gapped where the problem requires it, encrypted and explicit about data flows where a connected service is the right tool.

The name

form + ray — light taking shape. A signal with direction. Something precise, intentional, and warm. The name reflects how we think about technology: it should have structure, but also energy. Purpose, but also craft.

Built to Last

What we stand for

Four principles that guide every decision we make.

Craft Over Speed

We take our time. Every product gets the attention it deserves. Fewer features, more care. Software built to last, not to ship fast.

Privacy By Design

Privacy is architecture. We choose local, air-gapped, encrypted, or connected systems according to the risk — and state the trade-off clearly.

Open Source

We prefer open licenses and inspectable systems. When a product is private or internal, we say so instead of implying otherwise.

Lasting Technology

Technology should outlast its creators. We choose boring infrastructure, write documentation, and plan for the long term.

What drives us

We don't build products for the sake of building. We build because something is missing — a tool, a system, a way of thinking about a problem that doesn't exist yet.

Formray started inside Skeldon, a cooperative enterprise in Italy. We took the production discipline of technical operations — where systems must work the first time, every time — and applied it to open-source software.

We believe that good software earns trust before it earns revenue. We prefer open licenses and inspectable systems, and we state the exceptions and trade-offs plainly.
